The Hillcrest Farmers Market is a ministry of Pulaski Heights Baptist Church located at 2200 Kavanaugh Blvd in Little Rock. The market began several years ago as a way for church staff and members to introduce themselves to the neighborhood. I have been told the market is open year round weather permitting. You can keep updated by following their Facebook page.
The farmers, vendors and a few food trucks set up shop on the sidewalk and street in front of the church. Volunteers man craft tables set up for the kids. The church doors are open to all and they encourage you to shop, visit and make yourself comfortable on the front steps of the church to eat and fellowship.
Most of the vendors have the same vegetables and fruit -- just different sizes and varieties. What I like most about Hillcrest Farmers Market is they only allow Arkansas grown products to be sold. You are only going to find what is in season in Arkansas so don't think you can pick up lemons or avocados. No shipping in produce from out of state and trying to market it as local. They have a strict application process and often have a wait list.
Yesterday, I found everything from homemade artisan bakery products and fresh flowers to coffee and tamales.

|Think of all the salsa you could make with these tomatoes.|

|Took Maria's tamale's home for lunch. Delicious!|
Consider visiting the Hillcrest Farmers Market and buy food locally grown. It really does taste better.
